SLCC Will Award College Credits for Technical College Programs

Salt Lake Community College and the Utah System of Technical Colleges (UTech) have entered into an agreement that will now make it easier for UTech students to transfer to SLCC. The agreement permits the college and each of UTech’s eight institutions to develop articulation arrangements that allow students attending technical college to convert their training into credit toward a degree at SLCC.

Awarding credits for a technical college program means students, once at SLCC, won’t be repeating competencies or incurring additional and unnecessary costs while pursuing a degree or certificate.

UTech is the governing organization for Utah’s regional technical colleges, from St. George in the south to Logan in northern Utah. Established by the State of Utah, UTech’s role is to meet business and industry needs for technically-skilled workers and to promote economic development by providing market-driven technical education to secondary and adult students.

SLCC is Utah’s largest two-year higher education institution. The college is Utah’s leading provider of workforce development programs and the largest supplier of transfer students to the state’s four-year institutions. SLCC is also a top 10 college nationally for total associate’s degrees awarded and the leading provider of applied technology courses in Salt Lake County.
